描述

The Camino de Santiago, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and a European Cultural Itinerary by the Council of Europe, offers a unique experience that combines history, culture and nature.

In Baiona, the starting point, is the walled fortress of Monterreal, where the Parador is located. This town, protected by a beautiful bay, is famous for the arrival of the caravel La Pinta in 1493, announcing the discovery of America. From here, it is possible to enjoy stunning views of the Cíes Islands, explore its old town or tour natural spaces such as Monte do Boi and Serra da Groba.

In Pontevedra, its well-preserved historic centre stands out, where the Parador is located in an elegant Renaissance palace. Among its most representative monuments are the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor and the Church of the Pilgrim Virgin. The city is also home to the Museum of Pontevedra, with an important artistic and archaeological collection. Nearby, you can visit the Island of La Toja, the beaches of Sanxenxo and A Lanzada, as well as picturesque towns such as Combarro and O Grove.

Finally, Santiago de Compostela, a World Heritage City, offers an exceptional monumental heritage. Its Plaza del Obradoiro and the imposing Cathedral are the heart of the city. Among its many attractions are the Plaza de la Universidad, its historic streets, churches, palaces and museums such as the Cathedral, the Museum of the Galician People and the Galician Center of Contemporary Art.

A fascinating route that combines history, unforgettable landscapes and a rich cultural legacy.

Day 1: Parador de Baiona
Day 1: Parador de Baiona

Our pilgrimage to the tomb of the apostle along the Camino de Santiago, declared by Unesco a World Heritage Site and European Cultural Itinerary by the Council of Europe, starts south of the Rías Baixas, in the historic town of Baiona where the arrival of the caravel La Pinta on March 1, 1493 announced the news of the Discovery of America. Protected from the open sea by a beautiful bay, you will find the Monterreal peninsula, where the Parador awaits you in the walled fortress. A paradise for fish and seafood. From there you will enjoy dreamy sunsets in which, in the distance, the Cíes Islands invite you to visit their cliffs, their beaches and dunes, their seabed and their virgin paths. Within the walled enclosure are the Royal Yacht Club of Baiona where you can practice sailing and enjoy nautical tourism. You can't leave Baiona without taking a tour of Monte do Boi and Serra da Groba, from which the Rías Baixas look like a sober and colourful watercolour, without watching the sunset in Cabo Silleiro, without visiting the Virgen da Roca viewpoint or without strolling through its splendid old town and promenade.

Day 2: Parador de Pontevedra
Day 2: Parador de Pontevedra

Crossing estuaries and estuaries – on the way it doesn't hurt to visit Vigo to stroll through the Old Town and have some oysters in the A Pedra market – we reach Pontevedra, in whose elegant and well-kept old town is located the Renaissance palace that houses the Parador. Of interest are the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, a jewel of Gothic architecture, and the Church of the Pilgrim Virgin, a chapel in the shape of a scallop. The Museum of Pontevedra is also worthwhile, with its collections spread over five noble venues. A few kilometres from the city, the Rías Baixas open up to the Atlantic, and there you can enjoy fantastic sunsets in places such as the Island of La Toja, urban beaches such as Silgar in Sanxenxo, or immense golden sandy beaches such as A Lanzada. It is also advisable to visit nearby towns such as El Crove and Combarro, with their picturesque hundred-year-old granaries. In February and March, the Camellia Route is scheduled through the different monasteries and pazos in the area.

A city that seduces.
